![]() Flixster - Share Movies 17 year old Angelina is a recent graduate of C. R. Walker High School and is a bio-chem major at The College of the Bahamas. She aspires to be a paediatrician or to work in the field of forensic science. In a brief interview she stated I would first of all like to thank God for allowing me to realize my dream of not only winning this pageant but allowing me to now go on and utilize this pageant to push my platform of Youth Motivation. 'I would like to encourage teens to become involved in more productive activities, this will assist them on becoming more well rounded individuals.' 'I plan to promote my platform of Youth Motivation by working with various schools and youth organizations. Through these avenues I would like to address my peers and to influence them positively in this regard about problems concerning them and to assist with finding resolutions. Angelina went on to say I would like to establish a website that addresses problems of the youth such as teenage pregnancy, abortions, violence, identity crisis, self respect, self confidence, depression and suicide. It is important to say thanks and so I would like to thank my mother, Nurse Bhimsain, my aunt and my entire family. I would like to thank my pastor Gary Curry. The committee members in particular Mrs. Knott and Ms. Small. The staff and students of C. R. Walker Senior High School, the staff and students at The College of the Bahamas, Youth Pastor Cynthia Rolle, Canaan (The Ladies Store), Make-up artists Krystal Burrows - Just Fab, Nadia Cash, Coach, Paige Lopez Wardrobe Designer, Cinderella Shoe Store, R.T.A Consultants and everyone who assisted me with the pageant. 18 year old Brittany Johnson is no stranger to pageantry having won Miss. Teen Bahamas Universe in 2008 – she also held the title of Ms. Young International Bahamas. The latter title allowed her to travel to the Philippines where she captured the international title of Miss. Young International of The Philippines. She competed against 21 teens from all over the world. Brittany a graduate of C.V. Bethel High School is currently enrolled in the Bahamas Baptist College and is majoring in Business Management. She changed her platform at the last minute to reflect seat belt awareness. She received the shocking news of the untimely demise of her young cousin last week by a road traffic accident. She told the huge audience that 'The wearing of seat-belts continues to be the single most effective thing that one can do to reduce injuries on our roadways. She provided the judges and audience with statistics from the Road Traffic Department and stated that the failure to wear seat-belts contribute to more fatalities than any other single infraction in 2009. She also stated that 60% of people killed in car accidents on the streets of The Bahamas were not wearing seat-belts. She also thanked God and her mother Sherene Mcphee, family and friends. She is grateful to the many sponsors, contestants and committee members for making this effort a great one. Entertainment for the evening was provided by top recording artist Julien Thompson who was featured in the opening number with an original song called Shadows. Later in the show he brought the house down with his second performance another original song called 2nite. Up and coming recording artists Keith K.J Hinsey also wowed the audience. The contestants and the audience were thrilled by both artists. First runner up in the Teen competition was Davielle Burrows and 2nd runner up was won by Mea Petithomme. First runner up in the Miss. division was awarded to Shannique Mckenzie, 2nd runner up was won by Leticia Gaitor. |
